Fred Maerker (born 1950), Hafen VII, tempera on burlap, 1985, signed and dated on the reverse, with an old label from Galerie Hans Barlach on the stretcher, the painting was part of the 'Hamburger Hafen' series, approx. 210 x 190 cm
with elaborate acrylic framing approx. 222 x 203 cm
PROVENANCE: Collection of Hans Georg Barlach, Hamburg, acquired directly from the artist in the 1980s.
Fred Maerker is from Soltau. He studied in Braunschweig and London and held teaching positions at the HBK Braunschweig, the Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, and the SANSURI Artcenter Sosansi, in Chungnam, South Korea.
