Description

Circa 1970's, the large oak adzed table top of octagonal shape with concave sides, supported on a cruciform shaped base. With a carved 'Lizard' signature to the base section. Top approx 134cms wide, 73.5cms high
*Derek 'Lizardman' Slater began his apprenticeship with Acorn Industries in Brandsby, York, and trained under former Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson craftsman George Grainger. Later he worked with former Mouseman apprentice Martin Dutton and on his retirement continued the workshop at Crayke in North Yorkshire. Known for the quality of his work and making items in oak in the Yorkshire School style, he continued to carve a 'Lizard' signature onto his work, and was commissioned to work at St George's Chapel, Windsor.

Condition

The top is in generally good condition with a little loss of colour over time, small crack to the surface of the top (9cms long) and a few minor marks and scratches. Base, colour is a little stronger than the top, one end of the base is a little lighter in colour from the sun, a little wear and marks around the feet.
