CLARA LÖFGREN. Summer landscape.

Clara Löfgren studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm 1870-75 and her art early on resulted in praise and awards. She participated in the Academy's exhibitions in 1873 and 1875.

After her years at the Academy, she continued her studies in Paris and Munich. Clara Löfgren was a diligent exhibitor. In addition to a large number of exhibitions in Sweden, she participated in the Nordic art exhibition in Copenhagen in 1883. She also exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1882 and 1885. This painting is said to have been exhibited at the latter.

She was a skilled portrait painter and painted, among others, royalty such as Princess Eugénie, Crown Prince Gustaf and Prince Oscar Bernadotte - but she was also a talented painter when it came to landscapes and floral still lifes.
