Bertil Vallien is a Swedish sculptor, ceramist, glass artist and designer born on 17 January 1938 in Sollentuna, Stockholm. He is best known for his work in glass art and has made significant contributions to Swedish and international glass design.

Bertil Vallien's “Chateau” tableware is one of Kosta Boda's best-selling handmade ice cream tableware in the world. Since its design in 1981, it has sold over one million copies. The series is known for its mouth-blown glass with the famous optics pattern and the twisted shape that creates a beautiful shimmer of light.
