4882518. ELISABETH WARLING. Spring.
Description
Oil on canvas on cardboard, 41 x 23 cm, including frame 54 x 36 cm. Signed E Warling.
Elisabeth Warling (1858—1915) was a Swedish artist active around the turn of the 20th century, known for her open-air painting and her evocative watercolors. She often painted landscapes directly out in nature, capturing the shifts of light and the movement of nature with a spontaneous and sketchy expression.
During her studies at the Académie Colarossi in Paris, she encountered a freer and more sketchy painting than that which characterized academic teaching in Sweden. Experiences in France helped shape her light-sensitive and directly observant imagery.
Condition
Good fitness.
