Hermann Max Pechstein (1881-1955), landscape with grazing sheep, ink and watercolor, 1919, monogrammed 'HMP', dated '8. May 1919' and inscribed 'Lühe', dimensions passepartout cutout: 19 x 15 cm, framed behind glass, with frame ca. 34 x 28 cm
PROVENANCE: Private property in Hamburg, formerly a collection of the writer Erich Kühn, acquired before 1953.
The motif with animals under trees on Lühe appears on several postcards from Pechstein, which also date from May 1919. The present sheet in only a slightly larger format could possibly have been an addition to a letter.
Condition
Sheet slightly browned, placed completely on a base. The passe-partout covers the leaf edges, which are approx. Lie 0.5 cm below the edge of the passepartout.
