Ingeborg Lundin (1921-1992) was Orrefors first female designer, a pioneer who entered the glassworks in 1947 after graduating from Konstfack. It was not long before she established herself, and in 1955 she made a success of “Äpplet”, a glass sculpture that became a kind of icon of modern Swedish design in the world, but also for a long time obscured the view of her glass in ariel technique. Today they appear to be perhaps her most enduring contribution to Orrefors. By developing and innovating the ariel technique with new, often ingeniously combined geometric patterns and figures, she won a new audience for ariel glass.
