4581289. ARTHUR PERCY. A set of three bulbvases, Gullaskruf, 1950s.
Description
Lilac tinted glass. Height 25-40 cm.
In 1952 Gullaskruf and Arthur Percy (1886-1976) presented a high-necked transparent flower glass that would become a huge sales success. It came in a variety of sizes (from 12 cm to 70 cm) and colors (from violet to dark blue, light green, etc.). Other glassworks followed suit, and soon virtually all glassworks in Småland had their own variant of these so-called bulb vases. Today they are a great favorite of collectors from all over the world.
Arthur Percy is otherwise best known as one of Sweden's leading porcelain designers and ceramists, including as artistic director at Gefle porcelain factory.
