The artist was born as Orla Andreas Heinrik Jacobsen in Copenhagen. As a young man, he decided to train as a designer and stage designer and began calling himself 'Muff'. He was particularly known for his costumes and stage designs of the 1920s. Since the 1930s, Muff has also created oil paintings with mythologically inspired scenes and figures as well as abstract compositions. He also worked in Stockholm and Berlin, among others.
