About the artist:
Grew up in Sulaymania in northern Iraq. Even as a child, art was her main interest and spent 5 years in art institutes in Iraq. In 1996 she came to Sweden. During her time in Sweden, she has studied art for 5 years.
Missing and homesick have had a huge impact on her way of painting. She has always been fascinated by the relationships of people in different cultures, a feeling that was reinforced when she arrived in Sweden 12 years ago.
Moving to another country made her complicit in a distinct cultural difference that is reflected in fantasy images of longing for the lost home and the present existence. The feeling of balance between two different worlds is something she also tries to express in her paintings. The warm and cold landscape has symbolized the difference between the past and the present.
