Rudolf Höckner mostly created small-format landscape paintings from the Hamburg area and is regarded - after Thomas Herbst - as an important Hamburg impressionist. From 1907, he exhibited his paintings primarily in galleries in Hamburg and Altona. In 1915 he moved to Wedel, where he found numerous motifs for his paintings. His atmospheric landscapes are still popular with collectors who appreciate the subtle color and lighting moods and the atmospheric nuances of his works.
