Yunkers (1900-1983) was born in Riga and fled in connection with the Russian Revolution. He resided in several European countries and became acquainted with several international greats, such as Nolde. In his late 30s, he fled the war and ended up in Sweden. After the war, after a couple of years he moved to the United States where he worked as a teacher.
