Founded in 1900, the British shipping company Union-Castle Mail Steamship Company, Ltd operated mail steamships that sailed as passenger and cargo ships between England and South Africa from 1900 to 1977. The company was led by Donald Currie & Co.
With a romanticizing and exotic presentation, they promoted the luxurious side of passenger shipping for Europeans to the British colonies in East and South Africa.
Condition
Completely rubbed, with various scratches and small imperfections, a slightly larger defect of 2 x 3 cm on the right edge, edges chipped.
