Description

Werner Dietz,"Thyon 2000 Valais", charcoal and red chalk, signed. that 1979 Dimensions: 41 x 61 Werner Dietz the "art pioneer" on the Upper Rhine We are pleased to be able to present works from the collection of a great and influential artist.
Werner Dietz (1947-1997), an artist with as many facets and nuances as a color palette itself. A reflection of his eventful life is reflected in his oeuvre.

Born in Muellheim/Baden in 1927.
After training as a textile designer (KBS Lörrach) and art lessons with Adolf Glattacker, Dietz, who was badly wounded in the war, attended the Ernst Honigberger private art school in Wehr from 1946 to 1948 and later studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Basel (under Heinrich Müller and Walter Bodmer). Under the most difficult conditions in the post-war period, the young Dietz unswervingly pursued his goal of building his life as a freelance painter.

As early as the early 1950s, he and his fellow painters, Frowalt Häusler and Heinrich Mutter, undertook adventurous study trips to Spain, France and Morocco, where he discovered the light and colors of the south for his paintings.
He was also called "Picassian" among his fellow painters. As an initiator and founding member of the Kunstverein Hochrhein and co-founder of the Freie Gruppe Hochrhein, Dietz helped write a piece of art history on the Hochrhein. Inspired by the art movements of Impressionism and Expressionism. Milestones in his career were special honors such as the city's silver medal of merit and the art prize of the Waldshut district foundation.(http://www.badische-zeitung.de).
