Description

Eduard Kasparides (1858-1926), evening mood at Mattsee, oil on cardboard, 1920s, signed and dated poorly legibly, provided with an exhibition label from 1925 on the back, numbered “119" here, ca. 90 x 112 cm, with frame approx. 101 x 123 cm

PROVENANCE: Hamburg private collection, previously owned by the family (up to 1970s Austria and the Czech Republic).

The Austrian painter Eduard Kasparides received his education at the Vienna Academy, then settled in Munich and worked in Vienna from 1886. At the beginning of the 20th century, he was a member of the Hagenbund.
He first created genre and historical paintings, and after the turn of the century he dedicated himself to atmospheric impressionist landscapes, which he liked to depict in warm evening light.

Condition

Occasionally with fine scratches and small spots, partially retouched.
