4134044. GUSTAV MEYER (1816-1877) ODER UMKREIS. Design drawing for Volkspark Humboldthain.
Description
Gustav Meyer (1816-1877) or circle, draft drawing for Volkspark Humboldthain, ink and pencil, partially colored, probably 1860s, illegibly inscribed at the top right (translucent on the front), framed behind glass, with narrow metal strip, ca. 58.5 x 64.5 cm
The Humboldthain Volkspark in Berlin was built from 1865 based on designs by Peter Joseph Lenné and was designed according to the plans of his student, the garden architect Gustav Meyer. In the meantime, the plans had to be changed, as part of the planned park area was required for the railway line in the northwest. The park was usable from 1872.
The park was designed as a landscape park with a strong emphasis on “nature.” The meeting points and promenade trails lined with avenues and the first playground set up in a Berlin park are characteristic. It consisted of a four-hectare lawn and was surrounded by benches from which you could watch the children.
Condition
With numerous vertical creases and creases, creases partially covered with film strips, slightly penetrating on the front. Not framed, examined.
