Signed, dated 99. Thin stoneware. Stand made of metal. Height, including stand 11 cm. Diameter 15 cm.
Jane Reumert (1942-2016) was a Danish artist and ceramist. After arts and crafts training in Copenhagen, she started, with two other potters, a workshop in 1964 at Lille Strandstræde in Nyhavn in the same city. Unlike other Danish contemporary potters, she has attracted attention in Sweden, including being awarded the Prince Eugen Medal in 1998. At an exhibition at Sigtuna museum in 2001, Hip, hip hooray — What Danish ceramics are good! , her artistry was described by Märta Holkers:
“Jane Reumert draws her inspiration from nature — from bird eggs, seeds, mussel shells, shells, wasp nests, feathers and more. Her pottery ranges from powerful vessels to brittle porcelain bowls, thin as eggshells. Her transparent little eggshell bowls have varied infinitely, both in size and shape, as well as in the speckled decor.” Jane Reumert is represented at the Nationalmuseum and other museums.
Leafy thin crack on edge.
