Description

plush upholstery in yellow, deep stitched, under the cover with a pillow-top mattress, chromed leg stand.

Length ca 205 cm, depth 104 cm, seat height approx. 25 cm.

History:
“When the IMPALA seating furniture series was launched in the IKEA catalog in 1972, it was presented as “a furniture event”. That the odd shape would provoke reactions was something IKEA both anticipated and welcomed. The catalogue presented IMPALA as follows: “It would be nice to know your first impression. Do you feel the allure of the continental, new environmental ideas? Do you see IMPALA as luxurious, different, 'difficult', fashionable or even ordinary furniture? Exciting furniture like this should be talked about, discussed and enjoyed. We at IKEA have lost our heart to the amazing furniture with the soft, bulging, comfortable lines. We are thrilled in the exquisite comfort, the sofa bed possibility and the individual usefulness of the armchairs. The price is, oddly enough, very low. We also want to flag for that.”
Out of the Ikea museum.
