Leif Gillis Arthur Lundgren (1929-2016) was a Swedish commercial artist and furniture designer. He designed some of Ikea's best-selling furniture, including the popular 'Billy' bookshelf in the late 1970s, and was involved in developing the company's self-assembly concept. He joined Ikea in 1953 as a fourth employee, back then a small mail-order company in Almhult, Sweden. In close collaboration with its founder Ingvar Kamprad, Lundgren experienced how the company developed into a multinational corporation with more than 100,000 employees.
