3 sheets: Ilse Naumann (1905-1983), costume designs, watercolor and gouache over pencil on various papers, two sheets signed, all marked, approx. 28 x 21 cm, all framed behind a passport and glass, each with frame approx. 42 x 32 cm
Ilse Naumann worked as a costume designer for theatre and film in Berlin. In the 1930s and 1940s, she designed costumes for various well-known actors. She later fell into oblivion and left behind over 500 designs after her death, which a Berlin art dealer took over and produced at an exhibition at the Wertheim department store in Steglitz in 1986. Today, the designs are widely dispersed and difficult to find.
