Gabriel Glikman (1913-2003), Igor Strawinski, bronze, 1984, monogrammed and dated in the base, ca. 44 x 22 x 14 cm (H x W x D)
The Russian artist Gabriel Glikman studied at the Leningrad Academy of Arts and quickly found recognition in the former Soviet Union. His marble and bronze sculptures still adorn streets, squares and buildings in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities. Glikman's art still has its roots in the constructivist movements and the avant-garde of the 1930s. His paintings received no attention in the Soviet Union and did not meet government standards. In the 1980s, he succeeded in moving to the West, where he founded a studio in Munich. Personalities from music and culture often serve as a source of inspiration for him.
