Amanda Cardell (1972) was born in Ljungby, living in Stockholm and Hälsingland. Educated at the Royal
the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, Konstfack, the Kunstakademie in Trondheim, Norway and the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Ghent, Belgium.
Cardell works as a freelance visual artist with space, space and movement. Often large-scale
indoor and outdoor installations in relation to context and situation. Temporary as well as
permanent missions. Moves from textile and paper-based materials to ceramics, glass, metal and photographic images.
Cardell's artistic process and method are based on a sensitivity to place, materials and context. She delves into historical stock, expertise and contemporary issues and processes it in her art, carefully selecting materials and workmanship based on situation and sustainability. She is particularly interested in the role of art in public space, regularly exhibiting her art at established art institutions as well as emerging cross-artistic contexts.
Her art is represented by the Danish Arts Council, regions, municipalities and has made several
permanent design assignments.
Cardell's work has previously been exhibited at Vandalorum, Småland Triennalen, Centre Culturel Sudeois in Paris, Eskilstuna Art Museum, Sankei-En garden in Yokohama, Japan, Vigeland Museum in Oslo, etc.
