Engraved by Henry A. Papprill (ENGRAVED BY H.PAPPRILL/front lower right), and by CC Henderson colored (see front left below).

Dimensions (entire sheet): 25 x 34 cm (height x width) Dimensions in frame: 42 x 53 cm (height x width) Charles Cooper Henderson (1803 - 1877) was a British painter who mainly painted horses and horses carriages. Many of Henderson's paintings were engraved by himself and others such as Henry A. Papprill, John Harris and the renowned Samuel William Fores.
The series numbered plates I-VI, "Changing Horses", "All Right", "Pulling up to Un-Skid", "Waking Up", "The olden Time", "The Night Team", the first five were engraved John Harris, the sixth disc by Henry A Papprill.
Large format aquatint etchings are in the British Government (Art Collection). Other works by him are in various public collections in Dublin and the UK. Henderson is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery and has a memorial at St Nicholas Church in Shepperton.
Henry A Papprill Henry A Papprill was born in Holborn, London. He lived in Wharton Street, Lloyd Square and London for much of his life. His work in the US classified him as something of an 'American engraver', but his reputation was established on the basis of his work in England.
He produced a number of works for Ackermann & Co from 1840 beginning with four plates "The Jolly Squire" of verse, after James Pollard.
From 1867 he engraved for Samuel William Forres of Piccadilly.

Condition

Good state of preservation. Two crease marks on the right side. Minimal crease mark below. Framed behind glass. Passe-partout. Sticker on the reverse from Galerie Fischinger.
