Nati Cañada is a Spanish painter and portraitist born in Oliete, Teruel. Daughter and sister of artists, her father was the painter Alejandro Cañada, who significantly influenced her artistic training from an early age. She studied Fine Arts at San Carlos School in Valencia and San Fernando School in Madrid, developing a personal style that has made her a leading figure of magical realism in painting.
Throughout her career, Cañada has experimented with different artistic stages, from her first paintings influenced by her family environment to her phases of mysticism and dematerialisation.
In the 1960's and 1970's, Nati Cañada developed a style that reflected both her academic training and her ability to experiment and evolve artistically. During that period, she began to explore the human figure and portraits with an approach that combined the academic tradition with a growing creative freedom.
Nati Cañada's style in the 1960‘s and 1970’s shows an evolution from a solid academic background towards a freer and more personal expression. Her works of that period stand out for their delicacy, transparency and a constant search for the spiritual essence in her portraits and compositions.
