Nils Kreuger's artistic career began with classical studies at the Academy. After that, he came to study with Edvard Perséus, one of the leading figures in the opposition movement. With him to Perséu's school of painting, Kreuger also had his fellow painter Richard Bergh, together in the 1880s the two would be involved in the formation of the Union of Artists.
.
Nils Kreuger's painting was stylistically characterized by French Impressionism at the end of the century, only to develop in the 20th century into a more pointillist character. In his depictions of the sun-shimmering plains of the Öland Alvaret with the horses and cows in their magnificent natural environment, Kreuger's palette of colours came to their absolute perfection and with these compositions he will forever have an obvious place in our Swedish art history.
Not examined out of frame.
