PROVENANCE: Schleswig-Holstein private collection, acquired from the estate of a well-known German actor

Karel Appel was a co-founder of the artist group CoBrA (1948-51) with Corneille and Constant. His painting later drew closer to American abstract expressionism, but returned to a figurative mode of presentation.

Condition

Peeling in the upper left corner, partly with minor color losses along the edges, three small nail punctures at the top of the picture.
