PROVENANCE: Schleswig-Holstein family owned for more than 75 years. At that time, the family maintained friendly relations with the artist.

Hans Friedrich Grohs was a German expressionist and, as successor to Fritz Mackensen, was temporarily director of the Nordic Academy of Art in Bremen.
