The painter Toni Elster comes from Bremen. In 1904 she became a member of the Munich Luitpold Group and was represented with her landscape and harbor paintings at numerous major art exhibitions throughout Germany. After a spectacular exhibition at the Bremen Kunsthalle in 1924, almost all of her works were sold. In 1992, the Overbeck Foundation honored the artist's work and brought her back to the public's attention.
