Else Bach (b. September 7, 1899 in Heidelberg, d. April 25, 1951 in Pforzheim) was a German sculptor. She came to Pforzheim as a young girl, where she received her first artistic training from 1935-1938 at the School of Applied Arts. She started out as a painter, but during her training her interest in sculpting was awakened. Else Bach undertook many study trips at home and abroad. At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1938, a group of bronze foals, later also executed in terracotta, received the Grand Prix. Animal depictions make up a large part of her work. The deer "Bambi" is probably her best-known sculpture, a result of her intensive collaboration with the Staatliche Majolika-Manufaktur in Karlsruhe, for which she designed, in addition to garden ceramics, almost 50 characteristic animal sculptures, occasionally combined with nude figures as elaborate "gifts of honor".
