Dimensions 130 x 215 cm.
Textile artist and embroiderer. Born in Sundsvall in 1905, died in 2000. During her 95-year-old life, she also lived in Karlskoga and Arboga. In the 50s and 60s, she started embroidering clothing as a hobby and it soon filled her days. With needle and thread, she has painted commemorative pictures of people and environments for everyday use as a party and created gigantic wall hangings. These are surfaces of over one square meter covered with stitches.
She embroidered on jute fabric with a treasure stitch in wool yarn, linen yarn, cotton and other materials. The artworks are colorful, well composed and have an almost improbable richness of detail. She has been described as an embroidering Lennart Jirlow. The motifs were people in the berry forest, at the surströmming party and at the farmer's action.
It is said of her that she always started with the frame, which was embroidered around the entire garment, because it was the most boring. In the meantime, she thought about how to post the subject. To get a picture of how the garment would look from a longer distance, she laid it on the floor, stepped onto a chair and looked at the work through binoculars turned the wrong way. Public decoration: Viksjö church, Härnösand, colorful embroidered clothing with villagers on their way home from the church. Exhibitions: Embroidered pictures, Länsmuséet Västernorrland 2001. Brush stitch II, Textile Archive in Sollefteå 2006.
