Camille Hilaire (1916-2004), Landscape with Trees, oil on canvas, signed, ca. 56 x 65 cm, with frame approx. 70x81 cm.

The French artist Camille Hilaire studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was first a student and later an assistant to the cubist André Lhote. Hilaire found his own style at the intersection of cubism, abstraction and representationalism. In 1947 he was appointed professor, teaching in Nancy and Paris. His colorful paintings are exhibited at the most important international art fairs in Geneva, Cannes and Deauville and influence French art in the mid-20th century.
