Gudmundur Erro (born 1932) is a renowned Icelandic artist known for his unique style that fuses elements of pop art, surrealism and comics. He was born in Iceland and moved to Paris in the 1950s, where he started forging his distinctive style. His work is defined by his exploration of topics such as mythology, history, politics and popular culture, often combined in dynamic and colourful compositions. Erro is known for his irreverent and satirical approach to contemporary society, using iconic images and cultural references to talk about the human condition and the modern world. His technique involves the use of collages, overlapping layers and bold colours to create visually striking compositions. Throughout his career, he has produced a wide range of works, including paintings, prints, sculptures and murals, establishing himself as an influential figure in contemporary art.
