Alvar Aalto was a prominent Finnish architect and furniture designer who was born on February 3, 1898 and died on May 11, 1976. He is considered one of the most influential figures in modern architecture and design. Aalto was known for his pioneering approach to architecture and his ability to integrate nature and human function in his works. Aalto co-founded the furniture company Artek, which was dedicated to promoting modern design and producing Aalto's own furniture. Through Artek, Aalto strove to make modern design accessible to a wider audience.
Aalto experimented with lamination techniques to bend wood and create unique and curved shapes. By gluing and pressing several thin layers of wood together, he was able to create curved chairs, tables and other furniture that were both strong and light. One of Aalto's hallmarks is "L-shaped legs", where the furniture has characteristic curved legs that form an L-shape.
Normal wear and tear, some marks.
