Michaela A. Fischer is a trained wood sculptor and former student at the Stuttgart Art Academy and the Julius-Maximilians University in Würzburg. Today she works as a freelance artist in Auenstein-Ilsfeld. Her expressive material is bronze made using the lost-wax technique. In Baden-Württemberg she has already realized more than 40 commissioned works in the public and sacred area.
Lost-wax casting, also known as cire perdue (lost wax), is a historical technique in which both the model and the mold are destroyed in the process. The bronze "Mother with Dying Child" from the theme "Encounters with People" encloses the essence of deep pain sculpturally. The sensations are reflected in the mother's swooning posture and her grasping, as well as the overall posture.
