Kim Ki-Chang (1913-2001) was a prominent South Korean artist, famous for his contribution to the modernisation of Oriental traditional calligraphy and painting. Born in Korea, he studied art in Japan and later in France. His style is a fusion of traditional and Western techniques, highlighted by his ability to combine flowing lines and bright colours. Kim revitalised Korean calligraphy, giving it a more contemporary approach while preserving its cultural essence. He also explored topics such as nature, everyday life and spirituality in his works. During his career, he received several awards and his contribution to Korean art was widely recognised. He is considered one of the great masters of painting and calligraphy in South Korea, inspiring subsequent generations of artists.
