Wolf Vostell (1932-1998) was a prominent German artist associated with the Fluxus and Happening art movements. He was born in Leverkusen, Germany, and he is known for his experimental approach and innovative use of materials and media. His work encompasses a wide variety of formats, including painting, sculpture, installation, video and performance. He is best known for his "Décollage" works, in which he deconstructed and rearranged advertising posters, and for his "Happening" art events in which he engaged the audience in interactive and provocative experiences. Vostell also pioneered the use of video art, exploring the possibilities of the medium in relation to social and political criticism. His style is characterised by his disruptive approach, his critique of consumer society and his commitment to artistic experimentation. He is still very influential in contemporary art.
Made for "Suite Olympic Centennial" and published by Centennial Editorial (Martí March) in Barcelona in 1992. Reference literature: M. Basso and C. Durán-Basté, "Suite Olympic Centennial: 50 Grands Peintres", Lausanne, Musée Olympique, 1994; "Suite Olympic Centennial: obra gráfica contemporánea", Málaga, Provincial Council of Málaga, Culture and Education Area, 1997.
