Jiri Georg Dokoupil is a prominent contemporary artist born in 1954 in Krnov, Czech Republic. He is well-known for his creative diversity, and has experimented with a wide range of artistic media, including painting, sculpture, photography and printmaking. His style features a versatile approach and a constant exploration of new materials and techniques. Dokoupil became known in the 1980's as part of the "New Image Painting" movement in Germany, where he challenged traditional painting conventions by using innovative techniques and unusual materials, such as soap and tar. His work is often provocative and conceptual, addressing issues such as consumer society, politics and the ephemeral nature of human existence. Throughout his career, he has exhibited his work worldwide, consolidating his position as one of the most influential contemporary artists.
