Footnote:
Walter Steggles was born in London and was brother of the artist Harold Steggles. He attended Charles Genge’s classes at the Bethnal Green Men’s Institute, then John Cooper’s also at the Institute from 1925, moving with Cooper to the Bow and Bromley Evening Institute which led to the formation of the East London Group, and exhibitions through the 1930s at Lefevre Gallery.

Surface dirt and some spotting.
Some small shrinkage splits to panel, particularly to sky.
