Josef Plank, history and bidnis painter (1818 Hall/Tyrol - 1901 Hütteldorf/Vienna). Studied with Cornelius and Stieler at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, 1845/46 with Kupelwieser and Führich in Vienna, where he was trained as a history and fresco painter in the style of the Nazarenes. 1870 study trip to Italy. Temporarily active as a portrait painter in Innsbruck.
