Bernward Laux, born in 1958, is a Düsseldorfer through and through. He grew up in Düsseldorf-Stockum and graduated from the Montessori school. Nurse, garden and landscape designer and, for many years, addiction counselor in a Düsseldorf aid organization are his professional stations. Laux is married and has two children.

Laux discovered his artistic side early on: in 1982 he made his first attempts at drawing with graphite and charcoal. As a garden and landscape designer, he was able to pursue his creativity with plants, wood and stones.
Since 2015, Laux has been working intensively on acrylic painting using various techniques. But he doesn't allow himself to be pinned down: woodwork, sculptures and, for a number of years, design with clay are part of his repertoire.

Laux is a good observer who brings his own style and perspective to the implementation. And who benefits from his life and professional experience. His style is sometimes abstract and colorful and then reduced again. He alienates, exaggerates and thus creates sensitive works that captivate the viewer.
