She was the daughter of Julius Cornelius Paulus, who was head of the Praetorian Guard in Rome, and came from a distinguished Roman-Syrian family. She is described as educated and charming and was 219 chosen as the emperor's bride by Julia Maesa. The wedding was a major public event in Rome and she received the title of Augusta. She had no children with Elagabalus and 220 he divorced her, took away her title and remarried. Her further life is unknown.
