The first fiddler's competition in Sweden was organized on Gesundaberget in 1906, south of Mora, by the artist Anders Zorn and his friend and folk music recorder Nils Andersson. The original purpose was to gather the fiddlers, to "trick them out of their holes", so that Nils Andersson could get to know the fiddlers of the area, and they with him, so that he could later visit them to record their songs" .
