Description

signed, sheet dimensions approx. 14.5 x 21, 15 x 21.5, 14 x 20, 13 x 19.5, 13.5 x 22 cm.

Lars Norrman made the world, and depicted it in a style and color scale that is now increasingly being discovered by a new generation.

Lars Norrman was born in Helsingborg in 1915 and died in Stockholm in 1979. His father was a sea captain. Lars also went to sea early on and made many and often long trips to countries such as Senegal, the former Soviet Union, Greenland and Bulgaria. The works that were executed in connection with the trips are characterized by warm, strong colors and a great cultural interest. The motif world also revolved around Swedish working life.

Lars Norrman developed a realistic style after training at Otte Sköld's painting school. He also painted during the 1930s for Fernand Léger in Paris.

Considering the greatly increased interest in design, crafts and interior design from the 1950s-1970s, it was only a matter of time before a new, younger audience would also reach Lars Norrman and his period-typical expressions. That discovery has just been made.
