Imogen Bittner:
As a Fine Artist, I like to describe my work as painting with fabric and as such have been working with textiles for many years; the colours, patterns and textures of working in this medium being of prime interest.
I predominantly use a black thread to hold, position and delineate form and have expanded on this to include my own drawing and painting practices; sometimes printed, often directly applied onto fabrics which are then stitched in place.
Graduating with a Fine Art (painting) degree from West Surrey College of Art & Design, Farnham, in 1979, I lived and worked in Norway and France until returning to Dorset in 2000.
I then taught art in a local male prison for 10 years and completed an MA at Arts University Bournemouth in Fine Art (sculpture) in 2013.
I have exhibited regularly since first graduating in 1979, both in solo and collective
shows and have participated in several larger exhibitions such as the
Ostlandsutstilling in Oslo, the Salon d’Automne at the Grand Palais, Paris, the SWA
held in the Mall Galleries, London and the RWA in Bristol.
I am a salon member of Dorset Visual Arts, and a member of Wessex Contemporary Arts (Wesca).
Direct from artists studio - apparently in gallery condition, see images.
