TREASURY, common man, Hofsberg, Ljusdal, marked 1801.
1634603. TREASURY, common man, Hofsberg, Ljusdal, marked 1801.

Description

Marked on the lid, Hofsbärg, Kerstin Jonsdotter 1801.
Richly decorated with flowers against a blue/grey background. Smaller drawer under lock. Inside with compartments and a glass bottle with etched decoration. Handles on short sides. Key is available. Height 26 cm, length 35.5 cm, depth 23 cm.
Should be attributed to the painters Per Jonsson and his son Jon Persson from Kolsvedja, Ljusdal. A reasonable theory is that both father and son were painters, this conclusion is based on the fact that it is possible to connect this family to a furniture painting commonly found in the area and that it is possible through style studies to show that this painting was done by two different people in two generations. Strong circumstantial evidence points to the likely authors being Per Jonsson and Jon Persson from the farm Målars in Kolsvedja, Ljusdal. Hälsingland's Auktionsverk refers to Anders Assi's article "Ljusdal's many peasant painters and the building researcher Carl Persson's source value" in Hälsingerunor 2016.

Condition

Age wear, marks/scratches/dry cracks. The box secondary. Later bottle.
