Willa Hilditch is an artist living and working in London. She studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and then the Royal Drawing School. In her work she depicts ephemeral items organised into an alternative, timeless space. Some of the items captured in her compositions are functional and others are cut out paper imitations of mundane objects.

Essentials IV is part of a series of shopping lists I painted during the first lockdown when the notion of what was an essential became a subject of conversation. When my family and I prepared for our weekly venture to the strictly one-way-system supermarket we collected lists from my shielding granny and aunt. These lists were personifications of their creators and I wanted to capture and remember them in paint.
