Description
Marghta, popularly known as "Märta" Rudolphi, came to Stockholm around 1860 via Johan Fredrik Höckert's mediation and was placed at the General Staff's Litografiska Anstalt where she was trained as a lithographer. Alongside her work, she was active as a draftsman and her art largely consists of motifs from the Delsbotrakten executed as drawings. Together with her sister Karin, she developed the Delsbo stitch (embroidery), which, among others, her mother Brita Carlsdotter Rudolphi was involved in developing. The Rudolphi family from Pomerania also brought the knot to Sweden. Even the men Rudolphi knotted.
The attached picture of the Delsbo church is one of Märta's more famous paintings.
