"Warmholtz Bibliotheca historica Sueo-Gothica 3147. Erik Jöransson Tegel (ca. 1560-1636) was the son of Erik XIV's advisor Jöran Persson. After Johan and Karl's coup d'état in 1568 and his father's execution, Erik Jöransson left the country, but managed to win Duke Karl's favor on his return and carried out several political assignments on his behalf. He wrote a couple of historical works, several commissioned by Duke Charles. The work on Erik XIV's history was completed as early as 1612, but was not printed until Stiernman undertook it over 130 years later. However, Warmholtz believes that the work is "imperfect and unreliable" and that it "would not have deserved to be brought to light, if nothing canc. r. von Stiernman added an interesting preface, along with some remarks and documents". The two portraits depict Karin Månsdotter and Erik XIV and are engraved by C. Bergqvist.".
