Born in Romania on September 16, 1886, artist Demetre Haralamb Chiparus is known for his beautiful Art Deco sculptures. His work was influenced by French theater and fashion. The artist DH Chiparus was also influenced by Russian dancers and his love of Egyptian culture also had an impact on the artist's work. These influences can be seen, for example, in the sculpture of the dancer. Chiparus died in Paris in 1947. He is considered one of the most famous sculptors and ceramists of Art Deco. In addition to numerous human sculptures, he also made some animal sculptures such as the famous sculpture "Polar Bear and Buffalo", which he exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1942. His famous chryselephantines made his work famous. These sculptures are an exciting mixture of the materials bronze, paint and enamel and mostly depict slender dancers. These sculptures are among the most popular pieces from Chiparus' Art Deco period.
