Surrealistic Angel. 1984 Salvador Dalí.
Gold on black base. The sculpture has been restored as can be seen in the pictures. This object is a pattern.
With the artist's lettering, the stamped numbering and the foundry mark on the outside right: "Kunstguss Strehle". One of 1,500 copies. Dimensions: 57 x 25 x 12 cm.
Also included: Rudolf Rom (ed.), Salvador Dalí. The surrealistic angel, unveiling and interpretation of a statue, Heidelberg 1984.
Angels play an important role in Salvador Dali's imagination. His world view was characterized by an 'Angelic view' of existence. Dali regards angels as cosmic intelligences and never ceased to elevate them to celestial spheres where, in his imagination, the purest crystal is formed in the hands of fire. In the 'Surrealistic Angel' with the bull's head, the bull-born Dali presents himself.
